neal purchase jr.

Always loved his boards and his surfing. The board with the glass ons is so clean; looks like it would be a super fun winter board.

rainy day

Rain, wind, and no swell. Dismal times for surfing. Enjoy this clip of Dane Reynolds ripping the bag out of pupukea and pray for surf.

spence hull

Scored this board on craigslist. It's an 8' Spence hull. Board is super fun in lined up point waves, but just as much fun at the local beach break. It is a trim machine and flys past sections with minimal effort and input.

One of my all time favorite surfing photos. Speed, power, commitment, rail. Photo off Tom Servais' website. I would love to order this print and hang it up; wonder how big the print is...

bell street farm

This little shop/restaurant just opened up in Los Alamos. Only had an afternoon dessert, but it was unreal. Pumpkin mousse, with ginger snap on the bottom and whipped cream on top. Will be going back for more next time I'm up that way.

los olivos

Back from a quick weekend getaway up to Los Olivos, one of our favorite spots.

Saw this cool old drive-in in Lompoc.

This was one of the dogs at the airbnb house, coyote ridge, that we stayed at. Philip the host couldn't have been cooler, and the house was on top of a hill overlooking the whole valley. We will definitely stay there again whenever we go up to the valley.

It was a quick trip, but we had some amazing food. Tri-tip, Santa Maria BBQ, from the Los Olivos Grocery is always on our agenda when we go up. They cook it over red oak in the parking lot, and it's right off HWY 154. They also sell really great fig balsamic, so buy some if they have it.

We grabbed apples from Dittmars on Alamo Pintado.

And, we got to enjoy Full of Life Flatbread, one of our favorite restaurants, anywhere. They always have unreal specials every week, depending on what's best that week. All of the food is grown locally, so it's picked that day fresh, and the specials really do change every week. We got to try a smoked sturgeon salad, a fingerling potato soup that was out of control good, and a wild-gathered chanterelle and kale flatbread. If you're ever in the central coast area, you can't miss Full of Life.

For now, it's back to work and school, while hoping we can escape up north again soon.

baja

Itching for some uncrowded waves, cheap beer, and tacos. Might be time to break out the camping gear and load up the car for a quick trip south of the border.
